Sirius Black being chased by a dementor of Azkaban.
Sirius Black by *mc-the-lane : The suggester's abbreviated reason why this is a great DD would out-do my own, so read on! "It's an edge of your seat thriller that's fantastic to view. McLean not only shows him in a realistic situation with realistic features, but he tops that off with surrealistic watercolor textures and a sense of flight, panic and movement that cause the viewers heart to race. It's as though the artist captured Black in a moment in time and we're left wondering; does he escape? Does someone rescue him? Is he done for? Tune in next time!" (

I love the painting style of this, and I love the idea of actually drawing Black on the run. So much HP fanart is either just portraiture or sappy couple pictures, both of which are fine forms of fanart, but there isn't much in the way of real illustrations. This is great.
Love the speed in this picture, the way the dementor dominates the picture makes it look scary. It reminds me very much of a dementor how the landscape warps, like when a dementor attacks you. Really, really good piece. I love it!
Aw, that's really nice of you to say! I gotta say though, I'm a huge fan of Mary Grandpre, and if I were to ever professionally illustrate anything HP-related I'd feel so inadequate compared to her, haha. Thanks!!
